Accounts Receivable
There are two ways to invoice from Brief Accounting:
from Time & Billing and from the Accounts Receivable module.
Whereas the Time & Billing invoice is designed
for speed and simplicity, the invoice created in the Accounts Receivable
module is designed to address specific and custom billing situations.
Once an invoice is created within Brief Accounting
(T&B or Accounts Receivable), it will be tracked within the Accounts
Receivable module.
The Receivables module features:
- View or print a Statement of Account,
showing a complete credit history and outstanding balance.
- Add interest for overdue accounts
- Apply payments to invoices using a receipt
- Apply payments to invoices using funds
in trust
- Print Accounts Receivable Journals
- Print Aged Accounts Receivable Reports
- Ability to zoom-in on invoice detail
when needed
If you have the type of practice that allows
standard invoice formats for flat-fee activities, you can design
and save invoice formats for use as templates. To invoice a client
for a flat-fee item, you would simply select the desired invoice
format from a list, add the client's matter number, check the details
for accuracy, and post the invoice. As you post, Brief Accounting
will take care of all the bookkeeping, allocating the various components
to the chart of accounts, and tracking your taxes.
In summary, the Invoicing
function will allow you to:
- Create invoices with a specific style
or structure, to fit a specific billing situation
- Allow you to name and save custom-designed
invoice formats for future use (templates)
- Create credit notes and adjustments
- Print quotations
- Take care of the bookkeeping aspects
of creating and posting an invoice
- Track profit by assigning costs to invoice
